It’s that time of the year again when the bass thumping sounds of EDM and Ultra Music Festival gets to resonate in your balcony. The crowded streets of both Downtown and Miami Beach start buzzing with excitement. Although the sights and sounds are still a week away, Miami Music Week’s yearly tenure in March can already be felt as the city prepares to host guests from all over the world. If fun in the sun and a chance to mingle in the VIP area fits your ideal spring break then I’ll phrase this article in one sentence: this is definitely a good week to come visit if you wish to see Miami in full swing 🙂
Miami Music Week, also known as The Winter Music Conference (WMC), continues to be one of the premier events in electronic music worldwide. Since 1985, it has been a successful forum to showcase the latest in electronic music as well as tremendous opportunity for emerging and underground producers to present their talents. Originally a convention of no more than 100 attendees, it has since grown to include over 500 official events spread throughout various venues in Downtown Miami and Miami Beach and draw a worldwide crowd from six of the seven continents. On larger scale, it’s worth noting that this doesn’t include the dozens if not hundreds of other “unofficial” events that take place after hours at other private events. Last year, not wanting to go to a crowded party, I decided to go to what was supposed to be a “smaller event” at a private house that turned out to have over 500 people! Perhaps others felt the same as me.
The week’s signature staple, Ultra Music Festival, notoriously known for transforming Bayfront Park into party central, sold out months in advance and expects over +150,000 attendees this year.
Although Ultra may have sold out already and may be too packed for our taste, there definitely isn’t a shortage of things to do throughout this week. Almost every major lounge, hotel, nightclub and bar is most likely throwing some form of event. What this means to you is be prepared to expect MAJOR traffic. If you were planning on having a picnic by your condo next weekend then perhaps this park could be a better option this time around ;)
Earlier this morning I was asked, Marcelo, how come you’re covering Music Week if The Miami Observer is a real estate news source? The answer comes down to understanding the lifestyle of our city and reminding my readers that one of the greatest perks of doing real estate here is enjoying the exciting events others also attend. Although as a city, we now are more than just a place to come and party on New Years’ Eve, there will also always be a glow of audacity in our DNA. With the commercialization of EDM and the simultaneous growth of Miami, it is now clear that we will still continue to move into bigger and better things yet always remember our roots.
Below I included the list of events I’m personally attending and that I can definitely recommend. For additional information on these/other events you’re welcome to follow the links below.

Not a fan of electronic music? Feel free to reach out to us and we’ll be happy to show you other places you can have fun in Miami!
Important note: While we are always the first in advocating for a great time, be mindful of others enjoying themselves as well. Please avoid drinking and driving to and from events. Be polite! especially with folks that may be out of town and may not know how to get around. Most of all, try to stay out of the evening news. If jumping out of your balcony towards the pool sounds like a good idea to you, it’s not.
