Taking A Quick Break Outdoors

Alice Wainwright Park in Downtown Miami
My escape today

As much as I enjoy to be out working with clients or sitting comfortably at my office desk, sometimes I do take my writings and business outdoors if the opportunity presents itself. Today, all it took was a quick glimpse outside my window to convince myself to step out and now here I am typing this from my tablet in beautiful Alice Wainwright Park.

A personal spot of mine, this park is  located off of the southern detached end of Brickell Ave near Vizcaya and right before the Rickenbacker Causeway begins its trek to Key Biscayne. The place is mostly an open, green space, with a few pavilions, BBQ areas as well as a playground and basketball courts. Nevertheless, what made me comes back time after time is the amazing views of endless ocean before you. it’s so incredible how peaceful it is to just sit here and feel like you’re a million miles away.

One common fallacy about Miami in particular that I’ve heard lately is that as a city we are becoming a pandemonium of a place.  A wild, noisy, mayhem that’s jam packed with traffic and commotion while offering little relief to its citizens. Above it all, the most common phrase I’ve heard is that laying low and having some peace and quiet in Miami is now “impossible”. Although I do agree that often times it feels congested to live down here and that avoiding I-95 during the afternoon hours is probably smart thinking, It’s actually possible to kick back and lay low if you wish to. At the end of the day, every single action and event is determined by your choices and the wonderful thing about living here is that you have the power to choose what you individually believe is the best possible outcome. You can choose to spend some quality time with your family in a park like this one or have the night of your life by going out this coming weekend to one of the many clubs Downtown and South Beach offers. You can go and check out the dozens of new bars and restaurants opening each week or stay home and have a beer in your balcony in peace.  Above it all, you can elect whether to be in the middle of the action, sit aside and watch, or have some quality experiences elsewhere. Today I chose to sit on one of the park benches overlooking the water and write this post, I don’t know where I’ll be tomorrow but I’m sure I’ll have plenty to choose from.
